Over 100 firefighters are tackling a blaze in a high-rise block of flats in North Woolwich

A video posted on social media shows flames bursting out of the top floor balcony and window of  Dunedin House in Manwood Street.

Eyewitnesses near the 17-storey block also reported seeing flames.

The London Fire Brigade shared a statement on Twitter confirming the situation with 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters called to the scene.

Saying: "Firefighters are tackling a fire on the 17th floor of a building in #Woolwich. Crews are also dealing with a fire involving around one hectare of grass opposite the block."

There have been no reports of injuries at the time of writing.

The London Ambulance Service also shared a message on their social media saying:"We have sent a number of resources to the scene, including advanced paramedics and our hazardous area response team.”

The fire comes just a day after the LFB marked a major incident in London following a series of wildfires in the capital yesterday (July 19).

Saying: "We have declared a major incident as firefighters battle several significant fires across the capital during today’s record-breaking heatwave."
