Customers of Barclays bank reported a number of issues with its banking services on Sunday, January 30.

It was reported that customers were struggling to make payments through the app, online banking and over the phone.

Reports on social media and outage website Down Detector show the issues began at around 7pm on Sunday, January 30 and lasted until around 11pm.

Barclays confirmed customers could make payments via telephone at 11.09pm on Twitter.

At 8.53pm Barclays tweeted: "If you're having trouble making payments through our apps, Online Banking or over the hone right now - we're sorry.

"We're working to fix this and will update you here as soon as we can.

"Thanks for bearing with us."

"Hi, I’ve just done a transfer from one Barclays account to another, and the money has been taken out of one and not placed in the other?" said one customer.

Another customer tweeted: "I have sent money and it has gone AWOL."

Another confirmed: "Yeah just moved money over and it’s now gone."

Customers are reporting an RPS01 error on the app.

According to the Barclays website, the RPS01 error shows this message:

Sorry, something went wrong and your payment may not have gone through. Don’t try to make another payment. You should check your account after 4 hours, and if the payment hasn’t been processed, you’ll have to resend it.

The error code suggests the payment system isn’t working. Barclays ask customers to not try and resubmit the payment as the issue usually resolves itself within four hours.

Barclays was advising people to clear their cache and cookies on their devices earlier in the evening.

Customers can visit the website and sign up to receive a message when the services are back up and running.
