Bigger and better than before – the eighth Yellow Umbrella Day is set to be one of the most entertaining yet.

Topping the bill on Sunday will be the annual runbrella – a 10k fun run taking in the sights of Chiswick to raise money for three children’s charities.

There is also a 5k mini runbrella and a 10m walk for young children to enter into the spirit of the day.

Fairground rides, cookery classes, football workshops, pony rides, and arts and craft sessions will be among the many activities. And live music will be provided by an tribute band, Suspiciously Elvis.

All funds raised will be shared between three charities – the Kids’ Cookery School in Acton, the Log Cabin and the Shooting Star children’s hospice.

Emma Jones, at Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work, said: “Yellow Umbrella Day has become a staple favourite in the west London calendar, allowing the community to gather together and enjoy a family day out while contributing to three worthy local causes.

“There really is something for everyone – from those wanting to join in one of the events to those who just want to relax and enjoy the entertainment – and it will all be helping raise money to help change a child’s life.”

Chiswick Park, which hosts the charity day, will also be running a grand draw with prizes including an exclusive recording day at Teddington Studios, a guitar signed by Jack Johnson, and a private screening of a film for 54 people.

Entertainment and the 10k and 5k races start at 11am.

Those competing in the events must register. Registration can be completed online at yellowumbrelladay.com or from 9.45am on Sunday at the business park.
