A driver had to be cut free from his car after reports it was involved in three separate crashes on the M25 in one morning.

Police were called at 11am on Sunday (January 7) to reports of a silver Audi driving erratically on the motorway. None of the people in the vehicles hit were seriously injured.

The Audi finally stopped when it hit the central reservation - believed to be near junction six for Godstone -, trapping the driver inside. He had to be cut free by firefighters and the M25 was closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land. The driver's injuries were thankfully less serious than originally feared and he was taken to hospital by regular ambulance.

The clockwise carriageways and one lane anticlockwise were then reopened by two anticlockwise lanes remained shut as Highways England removed the damaged vehicles and cleared up an oil spillage.

Police now want to speak to anyone who may have seen the silver Audi in the lead up to the crashes.

They especially want to speak to anyone with dashcam footage.
