A loyal teacher has been appointed as a school’s new headmaster after a quarter of a century serving as a deputy.

Sue Taylor, who will take up her new post in September, has been Acting Headteacher at Links School for the past 18 months after serving for 26 years as Deputy Head.

Mrs Taylor said: “Our test results are improving and children’s achievement is excellent. I want to make sure standards continue to rise and ensure that pupils develop their full potential.”

“I have a really good team of staff who work their socks off to give pupils the extra chance. It’s not unusual to find teaching staff here until the early evening working and preparing lessons.”

Links School is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Merton, with over 30 languages and foreign dialects being spoken and with 75 per cent of all pupils speaking English as a second language.
