Two Epsom fashion students are through to the semi-finals of Graduate Fashion Week 2011.
Rachel Evans and Jungo Kuroiwa, who both study at the University of Creative Arts (UCA) in Epsom, impressed judges at UCA's diverse catwalk show at Earl's Court on Monday.
Dean of Fashion at UCA Epsom, Calum Mackenzie, said: “I thought the show went really well - it was lively and each student really displayed their individual characters through their collections.”
The pair will showcase their collections again on June 8, along with eight other students.
The winning designer will receive the Gold Award and £20,000.
Rachel Evans said it felt “surreal and unexpected” while Jungo Kuroiwa said: “I can't believe I'm through to the next stage - I'm really proud of myself.”
The semi-finalists hope to follow in the footsteps of UCA Rochester's Myrto Stamou, who beat 300 hopefuls to claim the Gold Award in 2009. Two of her winning designs were sold nationwide by high street store River Island.
