Kids wanting to represent Elmbridge at the Surrey Youth Games flocked to free coaching sessions last week.

Particularly busy sessions included girls cricket for nine to 11-year-olds and mixed golf for 11 to 14-year-olds.

All participants got the chance to be selected to represent the borough at the youth games on June 19 and June 21 at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

Linda Jacks, the games’ event manager, said: “The whole point of the P&G Youth Games is to get more young people playing sport, so to see these numbers flocking to the sessions is fantastic.

“We’ve lined up the most amazing weekend for those lucky enough to be selected to compete.

"Not only will they take part in an amazing festival of sport at the magnificent, brand new Surrey Sports Park, but there will be a huge range of entertainment on offer for when they are not competing, including professional circus shows, capoeria production, dance shows, and the chance to have a go at orienteering, drumming, circus skills, balloon modelling, arts activities, dancing and cheerleading.

“The activities are all free and open to all, both competitors and spectators.”
