Primary school expansion in Maldens and Coombe and the south of the borough will be up for debate at a series of public meetings in the last week of April.

The council plans to provide an extra 405 places across the borough, to cope with the increased demand for places that saw it use dozens of temporary classrooms in the past three years.

Four schools in Maldens and Coombe and two in the south of the borough are each due to be expanded by 30 additional places in September 2011, and the council is consulting parents and residents on their views.

The meetings for the four schools in Maldens and Coombe will be at the infants’ site of Burlington Infants and Junior School on April 26; Christ Church, New Malden, on April 29; Corpus Christi on April 28 and Malden Manor on April 27.

The meeting at Ellingham Primary will take place on April 29, and at Lovelace on April 27.

All meetings start at 7pm, and people have until May 10 to respond to the consultation. See kingston.gov.uk/school_expansion for full details.
