Former Olympic and Commonwealth badminton champion has handed out advice to Kingston University’s sports stars of the future.
Former Olympic silver medallist Gail Emms, 32, met with 18 Kingston University students on the sports performance programme to hand out certificates and speak about her Olympic journey.
Jo Heath, the university’s sports development manager, said: “Gail was really able to relate to the athletes as she recognises herself the difficulties in juggling a degree with a high performance sporting career.
“Gail was a former student at Kingston University and is a shining example of somebody who has achieved their ultimate sports goals while keeping the balance between training and studying”.
Matt Furber, from the Lucozade sports scientist team, also offered athletes nutrition, hydration and training tips, with some practical demonstrations showing how speed and agility can raise their game.
