A former pupil at St George’s College in Weybridge Road, Addlestone, has been awarded the prestigious IET/BP Faraday scholarship from the Institute of Engineers.
Jon Mather, who joined the school’s sixth form from Paris and left after his A-levels in the summer of this year, will be presented with the award at Lord’s cricket ground on Wednesday, November 25.
The scholarship has a value of £12,000 through the course of his engineering degree at New College, Oxford.
A spokesman for St George’s said Jon was extremely proud and the school felt the scholarship was richly deserved.
