Elliott School in Putney got some of the best A level results in the borough despite problems in the lower school earlier this year.
See the A-level results here.
Just under 30 per cent of all grades were As and nearly 80 per cent were marked at A-C, putting the school’s results second only among comprehensive schools to Graveney School in Furzedown.
Due to an email problem yesterday, the school did not take part in our original survey.
Jonathan Taylor, head of sixth form, said this morning: “Obviously these preliminary results represent a tremendous achievement on behalf of the students and staff at the school, especially given the difficult year the school has experienced.
“It is pleasing to see that yet again Elliott has delivered well at post-16 and that our reputation for academic excellence at this level continues.”
This year the school is sending one student, Chris Hilborne, to Somerville College in Oxford to read PPE.
It was a cheerful day for pupils and staff after several months of turbulence and uncertainty.
The school was recently put under special measures after Ofsted decided there were behaviour and achievement problems in lower school.
In May, Margaret Peacock, head of the successful Chestnut Grove School in Balham, took over temporary leadership.
The council has promised to restore Elliott to its former glory via a new management team.
