A Streatham teenager was stabbed just moments after taking a GCSE exam during a fight outside his school.
The St Mark’s Academy student, who has not been named, was slashed in the armpit during a brawl in front of a fish and chip shop in Tamworth Lane, Mitcham, on Monday, May 18.
Another 16-year-old was hospitalised in the fight, involving up to six students from the school, which is attended by many young people from Streatham Vale.
Police have said they do not believe the incident was gang-related and a source from the school said the stabbed students are not pressing charges despite knowing the attacker's identity.
The school's principal, Esther Holland, said: “Obviously we're extremely concerned that an incident like this should occur but it was off the grounds, and in that respect totally unrelated to the school.”
Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Chris Davies on 020 8649 3042 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
