Drama students from Kingston College will show off the fruits of their labour in a week of shows kicking off on Monday, June 1, with a burst of opera, flamenco and political commentary.

Set in a Cuban cigar factory, Stephen Knights’ The President of an Empty Room tells the tale of work going out of the window after the senior roller proclaims a democracy, leading to quarrels and reconciliations in an exotic and gritty setting.

Students will also be taking on Dylan Thomas’ classic Under Milk Wood, with its range of memorable characters, while the more cutting edge Attempts on Her Life will see pupils explore terrorism, pornography and ethnic violence in a witty and perceptive style.

Finally, From Rags to Riches to Celebrity finishes the week off with a cabaret-style multimedia performance based on Woody Allen’s Take the Money and Run.

More information on the week’s run, which takes place in the College’s Arthur Cotterel Centre and Studio 101, is available by calling 020 8268 3031.
