Time is running out for residents to share their opinions on expanding Merton’s sixth forms.
The council has announced plans to create a sixth form centre for every secondary school in the borough. If the proposal goes ahead, new centres will be created at Ricards Lodge, Rutlish, Raynes Park and Bishopsford schools by September 2010.
A public consultation on the plans is set to end on February 2. Residents have a last chance to learn about the scheme at a public meeting at Bishopsford school in Lilleshall Road, Morden on January 28.
Councillor Debbie Shears, the council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “We would like to see more young people in Merton able to continue their post 16 education in the borough and want to provide as many opportunities as possible which enable them to do so.
“We’re eager to hear from parents, schools and anyone else with an interest in the proposals.”
