Youngsters have been making a big noise to help win a payout for their favourite local park.
Children from Mitcham’s Cranmer Primary School visited Ravensbury Park on Monday, where they used megaphones to encourage passersby to vote in the Mayor of London’s Help a London Park competition.
The Merton Road site is one of 10 across London shortlisted for a prize of £400,000. Residents have until January 30 to give it their support.
A council spokesman said: “If Ravensbury Park is successful, the council will work with local residents to firm up exciting plans which at this stage include an interactive water play area and improved access for all users, including full disability access.
“New seating, flower beds and litter bins would also be top priorities to ensure that the park remains clean, green and attractive. Merton's plans will include proposals to improve its wildlife value, for example by installing bird and bat boxes.”
• To vote residents can text ‘parks’ followed by their full postcode to 62967 or visit london.gov.uk/parksvote
