Pupils setting off on a charity expedition to Namibia raised more than £30,000 at a fundraising evening.

Next month 18 students will start their expedition travelling to Namibia to participate in school community projects. They will help renovate school facilities, build new classrooms and housing for teachers.

The ACS Cobham students and their families were joined by over 100 teachers and members of the wider ACS International School community for a fundraising evening of live and silent auctions at Burhill Golf Club.

The money raised will go to Kuthenhoas Primary school and Dr Alpo Mbamba School as part of the Namibia Project.

Angela Rowe, ACS co-ordinator of the trip, said: "The guests enjoyed themselves and the students are thrilled to have raised so much for our project schools in Namibia."

Since 1999 the ACS Namibia Project has supported schools in Namibia striving to make a difference through education.
