A Teddington School student walked away with the top prize at the Jack Petchey speak out challenge.
Alex Ashley, 15, was awarded with the first place prize after impressing the judges with his speech titled Awkwardness and beating nine other speakers from schools in the borough.
He was awarded a £100 gift certificate and won his place in the grand final of the speak out challenge, which takes place at the Piccadilly Theatre, London, on July 6.
Katy Ann Howman, 14, from Hampton Academy came in second place with her speech Whose Perspective?, while third place went to 14-year-old Amie Carter from Richmond Park Academy and her speech titled Misconception of the F word.
