American students looking to broaden their horizons will be taking part in a British summer studies programme at ACS Cobham this summer.

The Portsmouth Road school will welcome 20 disadvantaged high school students, chosen for their academic achievements and community work, on its fully-funded scholarship to study British culture between June 23 and July 5.

The British Summer Studies Programme, now in its 19th year, will see the students using ACS Cobham’s boarding house as a base while they visit London and its surrounding areas to learn about Britain’s history and culture.

For many students on the trip, it will be the first time they have travelled outside of their home country.

Craig Worthington, academic dean at ACS Cobham and programme director, said: "All the students participating have been working extremely hard throughout their high school careers so it’s great to be able to reward this with a culturally and educationally enriching visit to the UK."
