Energy minister Edward Davey visited Carshalton College last week.

The MP for Kingston and Surbiton got to grips with everything green when he visited The Power Centre at Carshalton College on Friday, July19.

Mr Davey and Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake got to experience first-hand how students were being prepared for a future in the energy sector.

Mr Davey said: “It was fantastic to be able to take the opportunity to sit in on a lesson about installing solar panels and to be able to see, first hand, the learning process behind this.

“I am proud of the work the coalition government is doing to expand Green Jobs and I am delighted that a partnership which includes Kingston College is leading the way in this.”

Tom Brake said the green economy does not only generate opportunities for those unemployed but energy training provides skills which can be transferred across the engineering and energy sectors.
