The mayor of Epsom enjoyed a cultural evening with students at their school where he was treated to art, film, design and technology and drama.
Glyn School, in The Kingsway, Epsom, welcomed the mayor, Councillor Colin Taylor, last week.
As well as viewing GCSE work, he and other guests, who included school governors, ex-students and staff and current students and their families, were entertained by the school’s junior drama group, who performed a short play Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations, and heard the finalists of the Tony Cooper Poetry and Prose competition read their entries.
Music students also performed solo and group items in the school quad throughout the evening, and a sixteen-piece school ukulele band sung a medley of songs.
The mayor took time to speak to each student about their creative work, before presenting awards to the winners of the poetry and prose competition, which is held in memory of a very popular English teacher.
