The final piece of Croydon’s tallest building has been slotted into place.

At 158 metres tall, the 50-storey building is almost as tall as the BT Tower and will be the 32nd tallest building in the capital.

It is 20 metres taller than the Ten Degrees towers which it stands next to.

A video shows the final top corner of the building being put into place using a crane.

It is now Europe’s tallest modular building where sections of it are built elsewhere and then pieced together on site.

Developer and contractor Tide Construction and Vision Modular Systems expect to complete the new flats in College Road in 30 months.

It is made up of 817 studio flats which are set to be offered for rent. Now being marketed as Enclave: Croydon, it will be run by Outpost Management which manages two other blocks in London, one in Kings Cross the other in Gants Hill.

Founder Troy Tomasik said: “We’re excited to have reached this important construction milestone on Europe’s tallest modular building. The speed and precision of its construction is testament to the hard work and dedication of our construction and development teams.

“Enclave: Croydon will offer one of the highest amenity provisions in the U.K., equipping residents to be more productive, healthy, and social, and we can’t wait to welcome them to their new homes next year.”

Chairman of Tide Construction, John Flemin, said London’s demand for homes can be met quickly with modular developments. He added: “Our partnership with Outpost Management enables us to deliver one of the largest co-living schemes approved by the GLA, putting Croydon at the cutting edge of 21st-century placemaking.”

The new flats are expected to be ready to welcome new residents in late 2023. Its website said studio flats will be offered fully furnished.
