Voters will go to ballot box today in a historic referendum to decide whether Britain should remain within the European Union.
Polling stations opened at 7am following months of bitter campaigning between the Leave and Remain camps, with torrential downpours across the capital prompting fears of a low voter turnout.
Prime Minister David Cameron and other Remain supporters will have been boosted by a number of opinion polls published yesterday that predicted victory for those advocating to stay in the EU.
But with other polls suggesting a narrow win for the Leave camp, the race is being considered by many pundits as too close to call.
Polls close at 10pm tonight. For information about finding your local polling station visit your local council's website.
