A cyclist is recovering in hospital after being hit by a bus this morning.

The man, said to be in his mid 30s, was taken to Kingston Hospital with a hip injury following the accident, which took place on the corner of Brighton Road and Victoria Road at 7am this morning.

A business owner, who asked not to be named, said: "According to people who saw it, the bus was turning right into Brighton Road when the cyclist pulled out in front of it.

"When I got out there the bike was resting against the ambulance and the guy was on a stretcher."
