Merton’s top cop will be entering the ring tonight to take on a former world heavyweight champion.
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Williams will be squaring up against two-times World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, "Terrible" Tim Witherspoon in a charity bout in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The Night of Champions will take place tonight at Wellington Barracks in central London.
He said: "I am incredibly honoured to be given the opportunity to get in the ring with Tim Witherspoon - a two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
"I have been training for this for four months and so physically I think I am ready but every so often a bell rings in my head."
Tim Witherspoon said: "I am going to hit Darren Williams with everything I've got and put a sign over his eyes that says "closed for the weekend"
"But the main purpose of this event is to raise money for cancer."
