The MP for Sutton and Cheam has been made a member of the Privy Council.
MP Paul Burstow lost his role as care minister during the reshuffle but has now been made a member of the Privy Council.
The Privy Council is the mechanism through which interdepartmental agreement is reached on those items of Government business which, for historical or other reasons, fall to Ministers as Privy Counsellors rather than as Departmental Ministers.
Mr Burstow said: "It is a great honour to be nominated to be sworn in as a member of the Privy Council.
“I hope it reflects both my service as a minister these past two and half years and my work as chief whip before that.
"It's a great privilege to represent the area I was born and bred in.
“I know how lucky I am to have my family behind me and I want to thank my wife Mary."
