A couple who've named their family business after the Sutton road they live on, have started work on converting an industrial unit into South London's latest microbrewery.

Duncan Woodhead, 36, and his partner, Victoria Barlow, 39, have spent the last week developing the unit into a 12 barrel brewery called Clarence & Fredericks, after Clarence Road in Sutton and Frederick, their three-year-old son.

As reported by the Sutton Guardian in June, the brewery on Neville Road in Croydon, will launch in September with two real ales - a best bitter and a golden pale ale.

The couple also intend to produce seasonal beers including a porter, a stout and an IPA.

Ms Barlow said: "It's really satisfying to watch the brewery take shape. We've been planning the business for a year in-between working our day jobs and raising our son.

"We've had incredible support from the local community especially friends in Sutton and Croydon CAMRA and at The Hope in Carshalton.

"The next steps will be to build a cold store and shop then to install the brewing equipment so we're ready to unveil our beers at the Wallington beer festival in October."

Mr Woodhead has been honing his beer-making skills at Horsham-based WJ King brewery as well as developing some 24 recipes in his nanobrewery in Clarence Road.
