Complete demolition and reconstruction of a homeless hostel in just over a year has been rewarded with a nomination for an award.
Developers Warings Contractors Ltd have been singled out for their efforts in erecting Alexandra House, Lansdowne Road, which included constructing units, lift shafts stairwells and a £200,000 roof in Gloucestershire before transporting them to Croydon.
The work has seen the development shortlisted in the Innovation category of the Constructing Excellence in London and the South East Awards 2012.
Alexandra House YMCA is a 80 bed hostel providing temporary accommodation and support in 54 single and two bed apartments.
The winner will be announced in September.
