Anna-Louise Lakey, 16, from 1st Belmont Rangers is getting ready for a once in a lifetime trip to help boost literacy in one of the world’s poorest countries.

She will travel to Malawi this July along with 11 other Girlguiding members from across London and South East England to take part in the Book Bus project.

Anna-Louise who is also a Young Leader said: ‘I’m so excited about visiting Malawi! I can’t wait to experience a different culture and to truly make a difference to the lives of the people who live there.

Anna-Louise has raised money for her trip so far by holding various events such as bag-packing, cake sales and a Christmas Fete.

If anyone would like to make a donation towards the cost of the trip then cheques should be made payable to Girlguiding Laser Malawi 2012 and sent to 54 Blakesware Gardens, Edmonton, London N9 9HU.
