A teenager who shoved and bottled a good Samaritan getting off a train has been given a youth rehabilitation order.

The 17-year-old, from Kingston, was caught after British Transport Police released CCTV images of her and another teenager.

The incident occurred on a train from Wimbledon to Chessington South on March 14, when two girls boarded the train at Wimbledon and were abusive towards passengers in the carriage.

On the day of the attack, the victim was threatened after she intervened when the teenagers picked on an elderly lady, allegedly taunting her and making lewd and inappropriate sexual comments.

As the good Samaritan prepared to leave the train at Chessington South, she was shoved by one of the women before being struck on the side of the head with a bottle.

The Kingston teenager involved in the incident was given a rehabilitation order at Wimbledon Youth Court on Wednesday, May 16, for assault by beating and using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She was given a curfew with immediate effect ordering her to stay at her home between the hours of 9pm and 7am until August 13. She is also required to do 40 hours of unpaid work.
