The Waddon estate will be treated to a spring clean tomorrow as Croydon Council launches the community initiative, Love Waddon.
Councillor Clare Hilley plans to help in the clean-up, which will focus on improving the appearance of gardens in Waddon, particularly in the area surrounding Houlder Crescent.
Free skips manned by volunteers will be provided to help elderly or infirm residents get rid of rubbish and unwanted items.
She said: “Waddon is famous for its strong community spirit and the Love Waddon action day is the perfect way for residents to come together and give their neighbourhood a spring clean.
“Whether it's face painting for kids or joining in the gardening competition, this Saturday will be yet another exciting time for one of Croydon’s most exciting and friendly places to live.”
Beginning at midday, the event will also feature refreshments and a number of family activities including a “swap shop”, as well as the garden competition.
