Residents banded together to rescue a woman from her people carrier after it flipped over on its side in Wimbledon this afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 3pm to the scene of the crash outside South Wimbledon station, after the driver turned into Merton High Street from Kingston Road.
A staff member of Wallington-based Expedite Detective Agency, who saw the crash from his car, said: "The people carrier drove too sharply and hit a pedestrian bollard.
"Then it rolled on to its side and was blocking the traffic for quite some distance.
"Luckily about 15 people managed to rock the car back on one side and drag the lady out, then push the car on the side."
Fifteen firefighters from Wimbledon and Mitcham and Mitcham were called, but did not need to use specialist cutting equipment to set the passengers free.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that the lady did not have be taken to hospital.
