Neighbours of Firs Court will quickly realise the residents are an able and friendly bunch.
Many of them like to pop to the pub or the shops or catch the bus to do activities nearby and Hook will be an ideal place for them to live.
Marion Brown, who sadly died during the appeal, was struggling to get up and down the stairs of Maple Lodge before she was forced to move to another non-specialised care home.
Chief executive Kay Harris said: “It was very sad because of the delay she wasn’t able to stay with us.”
The home also has an enclosed garden, which has already caught their eye, and lots of space for social events but at the heart of the project is more independent living with shared houses next door.
