Drivers are safer in Sutton than anywhere else in capital, according to a new report.
The Government report found Sutton has four accidents per 1,000 vehicles, below the national average of 4.7 and less than half the Greater London average of 8.1.
The City of London has the highest rate in the country, with 90.9 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
Councillor Simon Wales, Transport spokesman on Sutton Council, said: "This is great news for drivers, and shows that the road management system we have in Sutton really works.
"As a council, we do all we can to keep roads well-maintained, keep traffic flowing and work with the local community to take action around accident black spots to make them safe."
The research, commissioned by insurer Staveley Head, examined accident rates, casualties and road conditions from the Department Of Transport in a review of national road safety.
