A hospital cleaner has been charged after being caught on camera stealing a £160 cashmere cardigan. Police received reports from a member of staff at St George’s Hospital last year after the pricey cardigan went missing.
A 22-year-old cleaner was later spotted on CCTV removing the item.
PC Steve Dorrington from Tooting Safer Neighbourhoods Team said “Thefts from St Georges Hospital are a priority for the team, it is important that people visiting the hospital feel safe without the worry of having their belongings stolen. We will continue to conduct police operations within the hospital site.”
The cleaner was arrested and charged on March 6 and is due to appear at South West Magistrates.
