Members of the British rowing community paid tribute to a 2012 Olympic hopeful on the third anniversary of his death.

Molesey Boat Club’s Scott Rennie, of Parsons Green, collapsed on March 6, 2009, while warming up for a training session on a rowing machine.

The club was left in a state of shock and friends paid tribute on Tuesday, ahead of the Team GB selection trials at the weekend.

World silver medallist James Foad, who is competing at the trial, wrote on Twitter: “Scott Rennie left us 3 years ago, still always in my thoughts, especially at big races.

“No doubt he would have been on this camp. RIP Scott.”

Olympic 2012 certainty Moe Sbihi wrote: “3 years ago 2day a gd friend + training partner tht I looked up to suddenly passed away at a young age! RIP Scott Rennie.”

Mr Rennie, 25, finished fifth at the GB team trials in the month before his sudden death and his funeral was attended by more than 400 people.
