Lucy Saul and Tiana Kates, both members of 11th Cheam Brownies presented The Princess Royal with a bouquet of flowers when she visited the ‘Save the Children’ shop in Cheam Village recently.

‘11th Cheam Brownies have had a long association with The Save the Children shop. They have enjoyed raising money by carol singing in local shopping centres, supermarkets and even a garden centre, as well as holding several Bring and Buy Sales and helping to boost sales and donations by dressing up as rabbits and elves at Easter and Christmas and accompanying the adult fundraisers around the village’ said Jane Morrison, Brownie Leader.

She continued ‘We felt it was a great honour, when Ray Casey the manager of the Cheam shop, asked if two of the Brownies would like to present the flowers. Although the girls were a little nervous at first, they soon started to enjoy the excitement of the visit and Princess Anne spent some time chatting to us, both before and after her tour of the shop, where she meet many of the volunteers.

She was both charming, interested and appreciative of all the fund raising that is done by so many local people on behalf of the Save the Children charity’.
