Did you know that every year, 4,300 deaths are caused by exposure to London’s air pollution? Imagine that, 4,300 people in London –maybe a relative or friend-whose lives have been cut short due to something like car pollution, which can be easily reduced.

Car pollution is a way of polluting the air that we breathe through the exhaust fumes emissions. 80% of the air pollution is caused by car pollution. Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide are just a few of the chemicals released when driving. Okay, it’s hard to give up the car completely, but there are things which you could do to help reduce car pollution: • You could WALK rather than take a car for a short journey or even walk part of the way-walking is a great way of keeping fit (on the plus side it helps you lose those extra pounds that you’ve always wanted to get rid of) • Love going to school with friends? Why not CAR SHARE-especially when you live close by together-it’s a great way of spending time together and also reducing car pollution • PUBLIC TRANSPORT is indeed a great way of reducing car pollution too • Get the driver to TURN OFF the ENGINE when stationary for more than 1 minute (this can also save fuel) Not only will reducing car pollution benefit the environment, but also you and the people around you. ASTHMA, HEART DISEASE and LUNG CANCER are all diseases which can be reduced if car pollution is reduced. Little things can make a big difference, if the 9.9 million drivers in London can make a small change-think of the big difference it could make. By making a small change, you can stop 24,000 people from dying early as a result of car pollution.

ACT NOW AS CAR POLLUTION HAS A SOLUTION!

Will you take on the challenge of walking/using public transport or car sharing at least once or twice a week rather than taking the car?
