Residents of Lambeth can now keep up-to-date with their local police on Twitter.
Lambeth Borough Police has launched its own account, @LambethMPS, on the social networking site.
The account will tweet regular updates on policing, crime and safety on the borough as well as appeals, news, arrests, and events in Lambeth.
Lambeth Deputy Borough Commander Superintendent Andy Howe said: “Twitter is a fantastic opportunity for police to engage with the community and provide fast time updates on incidents that affect their local area.
“The tweeting community encompasses all walks of life and enables dialogue with individuals who previously would not consider communicating with police.
“This is a real opportunity for the police to understand what is happening within Lambeth and enhance the service we provide”.
