A Lambeth Task Force officer who made 103 arrests last year has received an 'Excellence' award.

PC Chris Dartnell was presented with the award at the MPS Commissioner's Excellence in Total Policing Awards ceremony on February 28, which was attended by London Mayor Boris Johnson and the Met Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe.

The PC, who began his Met career as a Special Constable in 2005, progressed to become a Police Community Support Officer and then a PC in 2008.

After joining the Lambeth Borough he worked in various teams before being attached to the Task Force Team where he primarily deals with robbery.

Since PC Dartnell's nomination for the award, he has gone on to make a further 14 arrests.

Eleven of these were for robbery and three for serious sexual offences. He also fought off a knife-wielding suspect whilst on patrol.

He said: I was surprised to hear my name had been submitted as I really wasn't expecting it. However, I am very pleased to have received this honour.

"I look forward to a long career with the MPS and to making Lambeth a great and a safe place to be.

Superintendent Nick Sedgemore from Lambeth added: "PC Dartnell should be very proud of his performance as we are of him at Lambeth.

"Lambeth can be a particularly challenging environment where our officers continuously work hard to delver a service we are proud of."
