Lambeth Council are to introduce free Sunday parking at Streatham car park.
As part of efforts to boost local shops and encourage people to shop locally, shoppers will be able to park for free at the car park in Leigham Court Road, Streatham from March 4.
The move will create an extra 33 free parking spaces in the town on Sundays. The car park will be open on Sunday from 7am to 7pm.
Cllr Lorna Campbell, Lambeth Council cabinet member for environment and sustainability said: "Streatham has some great shopping opportunities and we are determined to do what we can to support local shops.
"Free Sunday parking at Leigham Court Road car park is a practical step that should provide a welcome boost to businesses by making it easier for shoppers to find a parking space."
In Brixton, the council recently introduced nearly 40 free short-term parking bays to support Brixton town centre, that allow free parking for up to an hour, as well as opening a new car park in Buckner Road.
Thirty free short term parking bays have been introduced in Brixton Station Road (from Pope's Road to Gresham Road) and Valentia Place, four bays in Electric Lane (near the junction with Rushcroft Road), and two bays on Saltoun Road (near the junction with Railton Road.
