A terminally ill grandmother needs help locating a time capsule buried 60 years ago.

Delia Beer, 64, decided she would compile a "bucket list" of all the things she wants to do before she dies after she was told she had terminal cancer and just six months to live.

Mrs Beer who has three sons and three grandchildren has already taken a ride on a Harley Davidson and laughed that she also wanted to get a tattoo.

One of her requests includes locating a time capsule which is believed to have been buried at Green Lane School in Worcester Park.

Mrs Beer, who now lives in Tadworth, was a pupil at the school, and said it was buried in 1952 to commemorate the Queen’s accession to the throne.

At the time she was six years old and a lot of the information she has on the capsule is from her older brother.

She said: "I remember the street parties and the caretaker Mr Applewhite going round with a tape recorder.

"I remember us all being lined up and singing.

"It was a real 50s thing- they brought out all the trestle tables in Caverleigh Way near the school."

"There must be all sorts of things in there- it must be quite interesting."

A metal detecting expert to search the school last Wednesday, however, the school has changed a lot in the last 60 years and they were unable to find it.

Members of the school have spoken to their old contacts in an attempt to help Mrs Beer but, despite their best efforts, nobody at the school has knowledge of where the capsule was buried.

The school is now appealing for any former pupils who remember the time capsule or have any information to get in touch.
