A mum who has been missing for a week with her baby after running off with him during a supervised care visit is five months pregnant.

Lauryn Bateman, 28, took 14-month-old son Terry John Lee at about 2pm during a visit at the Sutton Family Centre in Robin Hood Lane on Friday, February 24.

Police are continuing to appeal regarding their whereabouts.

14-month-old Terry, who was under the care of Sutton Council, was suffering from a cold when he was taken.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Smart said: 'We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of both Lauryn and Terry who have now been missing for a week. Lauryn is currently five months pregnant and Terry was suffering from a cold. We want to ensure that they are both safe and well.

'We now know that Lauryn has briefly been in touch with a family member but no-one has heard from her since. I would like to take this opportunity to appeal directly to Lauryn and ask her to get in touch. I would also like to reassure her that she will be dealt with the utmost sensitivity.

'We are obviously very keen to ensure that both she and baby Terry are well and have come to no harm."

Miss Bateman lives in the Caterham area and is of petite build, 5ft tall with neck length dark hair. She was last seen wearing a grey top, black leggings and black UGG boots. She has a piercing in her right nostril and a tattoo on her left arm with the name "Gavin".

Terry was wearing a blue all in one suit, Adidas tracksuit bottoms and black Nike trainers with white tick along with a khaki green coat and a mint green fleece.

Anyone who has any information on their whereabouts is urged to contact police on 020 8721 7404, between 8am and 8pm, or out of hours call the Metropolitan Police's non-emergency line on 101.
