Croydon has the second happiest residents in London, according to a new survey.
Estate agents Rightmove asked 25,000 people across the UK to rate their postcode area to form the company’s Happy at Home index.
It looked at 12 aspects of someone’s area such as decor, neighbourliness, amenity, safety, costs, space, investment and contentment.
The CR postcode was second out of London areas, pipped by royal borough Kingston-upon-Thames.
Miles Shipside, director at Rightmove, said: “The Happy at Home Index attempts to measure how we feel about where we live by taking into account the relationship we have with our property, our home and our community.
“Traditional property market measures, such as price trends and transaction volumes, are both valuable and fascinating, but both fall short of treating property as a home.
“This extensive study of over 25,000 people across the UK gives an insight into how happy at home we are as a nation and which factors provide us with the most contentment.”
Nationally, Carlisle was found to be where residents were the happiest whereas East London residents were the least happy.
