A woman from Ewell pleaded guilty to two counts of benefit fraud at Redhill Magistrates Court last month.
Lorraine Flower, of Cunliffe Road in Ewell, failed to declare that she had received two payments of around £50,000 from the sale of her former matrimonial home in 2008, affecting her entitlement to both housing and council tax benefits, and she fraudulently claimed over £6,800.
The court heard on Friday, January 13, how Flower had used some of the money to pay off her debts had spent the rest.
Flower was ordered to pay a £465 fine on top of repaying all the benefit she had fraudulently obtained.
