Children and parents are invited to Elmbridge Museum for a day of family fun designing medieval tiles. The session, entitled Patterns from the Palace, will teach various printmaking techniques and showcase historical tiles.

Participants will also find out how the floor tiles of Chertsey Abbey ended up in the foundations of Henry VIII’s royal palace at Oatlands.

Councillor Jan Fuller said: “This event offers the chance to learn a bit more about a crucial part of British history. This promises to be a fascinating day for local families.”

The session is part of a series of family fun days run by Elmbridge Museum and will be held on Saturday, February 11, from 2pm to 4.30pm at a cost of £1.50 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For further information visit elmbridge.gov.uk/museum.
