A great-grandmother celebrated turning 100 with two parties last week.

Emily Pink turned 100 on January 23 and marked the special milestone surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs Pink, who lives in Sunrise senior living accommodation in Purley, was joined by 40 family members where she proudly showed off her telegram from the Queen.

The next day she enjoyed a second party organised by staff at the assisted living accommodation.

The mother-of-five, who was the eldest of 14 children, first lived in Clapham Junction before moving to Balham and Mitcham and then to Purley.

She worked as a dinner lady in a Wandsworth school, before opting for a career at HSBC where she worked for about 30 years.

The grandmother of 15 also has 19 great-grandchildren, most of whom made it to the party.

Mrs Pink said of the celebration: "It was wonderful."

Her daughter, Rosina said: "We came down from Essex and did the catering ourselves. There was a lot of food left over, the whole thing went awfully well.

"A manager from her old bank came to the party and presented her with vouchers for £60, which was lovely."
