A £1.5m haul of cocaine has been seized in a police swoop on an organised criminal network this morning.
Officers are currently questioning five people arrested held in Kingston, Bexley and Southwark after dawn raids that saw about £30,000 in cash seized in the capital.
The 11 kilos of the drug were found in linked raids in Northampton, where another three arrests were made and about £170,000 cash recovered from a haulage company.
Detective Inspector Sarah Staff of the special projects team said: "Approximately 11 kilos of cocaine which was no doubt bound for London's streets and beyond has been removed from circulation today.
"The seizure has disrupted a significant supply of cocaine and we hope that it will reinforce the message that the Met will continue to combat those criminal networks who intend on flooding the streets with class A drugs."
