Trains have been halted between Redhill and Coulsdon South following a landslide.
Service was disrupted after the landslip in the Coulsdon area, which saw the 8.37am Tonbridge to Victoria train damaged, though no-one was injured.
Network Rail engineers are estimating that the line will be closed until at least 4pm today while the track is cleared of debris.
Replacement buses are running between Redhill and Horsham, Metro buses are accepting tickets between Redhill and Reigate and First Great Western are also accepting train tickets on all reasonable routes.
