A charity is urging members of the community to come forward and abseil down one of Croydon's tallest buildings.

Croydon Commitment, which fundraises on behalf of other causes in the borough, is looking for people to abseil from the top of Mott MacDonalds offices at Voyager House, Wellesley Road.

It hopes to raise £20,000 from its first charity abseil, with money going towards charitable projects which will benefit Croydon.

The abseil will take place on February 24 and individuals or groups of six can sign up.

The charity was set up as a lasting legacy for the community and has donated thousands to good causes.

Ian Robinson, chief executive of Croydon Commitment said: "The abseil will be a thrilling way to enjoy a unique and spectacular view of central Croydon, while raising essential funds for charitable projects.

"We hope businesses and individuals will sign up to take part in what promises to be a memorable day."

Participants must be 16 or above and must raise a minimum of £200.

It costs £15 to register at the time of booking.
