A charity has said goodbye to its old home as it battles to stay in the Wimbledon area.

Headway South West London provides help and support for people with brain injuries, as well as their families and friends.

It currently holds monthly meetings at the Wolfson neuro-rehabilitation centre in Copse Hill – but the building will close in the coming months after its owner, the Tooting-based St George’s Hospital Trust, declared it not fit for purpose. The group’s last meeting at the site took place on Tuesday.

Trustee Rachel Allan said: “We were wondering if any organisations would be able to offer suitable space?

“As a very small charity we have severely limited funds, which may restrict our ability to pay anything more than nominal fees.”

She said the group was “enormously grateful” for St George’s offer to house the group in one of its other buildings – but said the group would ideally like to stay in Wimbledon.

The replacement building would need to hold about 35 people, be wheelchair accesible and have parking space.
